What is Writer's Filet?
Writer's Filet is something I've decided to start as there are an utter lack of Concrete Poets in the world, and those that are need a place to commune, and be merry, among other things. So Writer's Filet will be the place to do it.
What is a Concrete Poet?
Despite the simple poetry associated with the format of Concrete, Concrete Poets do not always use this format. Like the Beats, Concrete Poets have their own theme. Usually the depressions and despairs that come with the city, and the philosophy of that area.
The style itself is formed from a mixture of rant and def rhyme, free verse being the main tool. Symbol and Irony are heavily involved, but they're not blatant, but rather hidden between the lines.
Who are the Concrete Poets?
Currently there are ten known Concrete Poets, most of which live in the Richmond, Virginia area, like myself. We are a humble bunch who get together and read once a month or share poetry via websites and emails. Most are not published, yet the ties and bonds are what make them the poets they are.
Why is it called Writer's Filet?
I thought it was funny. My weird sense of humor.
